The Community Hall is open to Youth after school from 3:30 - 7:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, and 2:00 - 8:00 pm Saturdays. This is a safe environment in which children can spend their time after school, playing games, and doing crafts. There are occasionally programmed events at the Youth Center, such as cooking, movie nights, and traditional sewing.
Playgroup is held every Tuesday morning from 10:30 - 11:30 and every Thursday afternoon from 2:30 - 3:30. This is an opportunity for parents to bring their children ages 0 - 4 to the Community Hall for some playtime with new toys and other children. A snack is provided at each playgroup.
The Community Swimming Pool is housed in the Community Hall and is open from late June to late August. A lifeguard is present anytime the pool is open and provides swimming lessons for children and adults. There is also a swim team for youth that competes regionally each summer. The Ice Rink is also housed in the community hall and is usually open from mid-December to mid-April and incorporates programs such as men's hockey and family skates.
The Pre-School follows the regular school schedule in Fort Liard and is open to 3- and 4- year olds. 4-year olds attend pre-school in the mornings from Monday to Friday 9:00 to 12:00 and 3-year olds attend pre-school in the afternoons from Monday to Friday 1:00 to 4:00. The pre-school provides many programs to the children including crafts, indoor and outdoor play time and pre-kindergarten education. It is an excellent opportunity to socialize children and help them to prepare for Kindergarten.

Several programs take place within the Library including the following:
Adult Writing Workshop
Every Wednesday evening from 6 - 7 pm adults aged 16 and over are welcome to come into the Library for assistance or advise on any writing project. This can include resumes, letters, cover letters, e-mails, blogs, etc.
Family Literacy Night
Every Wednesday evening from 7 - 8 pm a literacy event is held for youth and families. The most up-to-date information can be found on the Hamlet's Facebook Page.
Parent & Child Craft Night
Every Thursday evening from 6 - 7 pm a Craft Night is held at the Library for parents and their children ages 4 - 12. This is an opportunity for parents to spend time making a seasonal craft with their child.
The Echo Dene School and the Hamlet of Fort Liard have a joint use agreement for the gymnasium at the school and several recreation programs take place there, including:
There is soccer training for youth, with teams for boys and for girls. Each year, the soccer teams travel to compete in tournaments outside the territory. There is also recreational soccer for men which takes place Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings at 8:00.
There is recreational volleyball for men and women every Thursday evening at 6:30.
Starting at the beginning of the school year, youth train in the gym in preparation for outdoor training, which begins as soon as there is sufficient snow on the community's ski hill (located at Hay Lake) . The snowboard team competes regionally and in the Arctic Winter Games.
Cross-Country Skiing and Snowshoeing
Every winter, cross-country skiing is programmed after school for youth who wish to participate in a non-competitive, recreational activity. The Hamlet of Fort Liard has a warming hut on the other side of the Petitot River and tracks are occasionally set around town for practice and outings. Equipment is available for loan to community members wishing to try cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Yoga classes are offered at the school gymnasium every Monday afternoon at 3:30 for girls 10 - 15 years old and every Monday evening at 7:00 and Thursday evening at 8:00 for women 16 years and over.
Every Tuesday evening at 5:30 and every Saturday morning at 10:30, a fitness class is offered at the school gym for men and women of all ages.
Fort Liard's Community Hall is home to many activities and events. There is the main hall area with a full kitchen which is used for Community Feasts, Court, and special Community events.
